WOW! gets you a lowdown on India’s latest national crush
Belonging to Uttarakhand, Tripti Dimri made her mark with the supernatural thriller Bulbul which was produced by actor Anushka Sharma and the critically acclaimed Qala. However, it is her latest run in this year’s blockbuster Animal that made her a national obsession, whose manager says that she does not even have time for an interview in the next two months! Within days of the release, her Instagram following grew by 320 percent; and in today’s times, what else is the true barometer of fame?
Her stunning looks and her strong acting chops, have thrust her into the limelight and how! In a movie where Ranbir Kapoor and Bobby Deol received praise for their roles as troubled men, the actress held her own and even overshadowed her female counterpart, Rashmika Mandanna. While Twitterati is divided over her most talked about scene in the movie, where she licks Ranbir’s shoe to prove her love, there is no denying the effect she has had on movie goers. Now, social media is abuzz with the fact that even with limited screen time, she left an everlasting impression. Tripti’s character in the movie is a mole who was sent to Ranbir by his enemies to know everything about him and his plans. The highlight remains her intimate scenes with Ranbir which the fans cannot stop talking about.
The 29-year-old actress was part of Forbes Asia’s 30 under 30 list in 2021 and from her days of modelling and acting in YouTube videos, including one that was a female response to Kartik Aaryan’s viral (and misogynistic) Pyaar Ka Punchnama monologue, and another that captured the typical shoppers of Delhi’s Sarojini Nagar, she always had a unique affinity with the silver screen. The stunner is a graduate in psychology from Delhi University’s Sri Aurobindo College. She also did an acting course from FTII Pune and is an avid fitness buff and traveler (per her Instagram page).
The newcomer wishes to work with Anurag Basu, Sriram Raghavan, Shoojit Sircar, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Imtiaz Ali in the future. The actress adds on record that she has a keen interest in mythological characters and would love to play Sita or Draupadi one day. Currently working on her next film with Vicky Kaushal, the actress has also expressed a wish to work with our own Junior NTR. Let’s hope the universe is listening!
