Goa-AAH!

If craving a taste of Goa in the heart of Hyderabad, look no further than Pousada Kitchen, a sister
concern of the popular Big Bull Beach Bar on Palolem Beach in Goa. This restaurant is the brainchild of a
dynamic couple, Shreya and Parthiv, who share a passion for Goa and its diverse cuisine. Every element from the food to the interiors is detailed with influences from the beach state.

As soon as you enter the restaurant, you will be struck by a laidback vibe, synonymous with Goa, incorporated into the ambience. The restaurant has recreated an upscale beach shack atmosphere with hand-textured walls that resemble waves, coastal décor with handmade jute accents, stained glass windows typical of Goa and a thatched roof bar.
The menu offers a variety of Goan dishes, from the spicy xacutis and cafreals to the soft and fluffy poyees. Seafood lovers will be spoilt for choice, as the restaurant serves a range of Goanstyle seafood, such as prawns, crabs, squids and fish. The Goan thali, priced at INR 650, is a must-try, and comes with a serving of Mackerel Fish Curry, Mackerel Rava Fry, Sukka Machhi Fry (dried prawns curry), Mix
Vegetables, Sol Kadi, rice, salad, pickle, Tandoori Roti, lassi, papad and Bebinca. We loved the homestyle Goan Chicken Curry with steamed rice. The distinct sourness due to the kokum was delightful.
“We source all our spices and condiments from Goa to stay as close to the authentic taste as possible,” said Shreya, the co-founder. The cuisine is not limited to Goa though, and they serve Asian and Continental as well. And, if you can’t do without your biryani, they got you covered with a variety of dum biryanis on the menu.
For dessert, you can indulge in the Biscoff Serradura, a creamy pudding with crushed biscuits layered with whipped cream, or the freshly baked Bebinca. Both these desserts are synonymous with Goan cuisine and while the first one is simple enough, the second one requires a high level of expertise. This caramel-hued Goan Portuguese delicacy is baked in layers and is made with coconut milk, jaggery and eggs, flavored with cardamom. I have to add that the Bebinca here is the real deal and nothing like the mass produced, packaged abomination masquerading as the traditional Goan dessert sold to tourists. Pousada Kitchen also plans to introduce live music on special days and later, on weekends, to add to the festive mood and entertainment. Whether you are a Goan at heart or just curious about the cuisine, Pousada Kitchen is the perfect destination for a memorable dining experience.
