Intro: An avian-inspired craft cocktail experience like no other

Perched on the rooftop of the Regus-Hyderabad SLN Terminus building overlooking the foliage of Botanical Gardens, the doors at Chirp open to a 4,200 sq.ft. bright, sunlit space with an aesthetic that is completely avian-inspired. Apart from the décor, which consists of custom-made chandeliers, feathered wall-art and birdcage seating, Chirp aims to also provide an avian-inspired craft cocktail experience and redefine the way Hyderabadis savor their drinks.

THE TIPPLES

Seated comfortably opposite the bar, we ordered three cocktails, the gin-based American Flamingo, a vodka-based Barbet and a tequila-based Frugivorous with help from the very forthcoming mixologist, Sylvester Kotnes. The American Flamingo, made of pineapple, cream and sparkling water, like its namesake, was a burst of color and flavor. Lastly, Barbet, a fruity and floral, yet strong cocktail made with elderflower and apple juice was reflective of the bird’s plumage and its preference for fruits and nectar. Frugivorous, which includes sous vide, bell pepper and ginger citrus, offered a spicy kick that symbolizes the bird’s spirited nature. Of their one-of-a-kind drinks, founder Nimit Gupta shares, “We believe in blending the art of mixology with the beauty of nature, offering our patrons a truly unique adventure in the world of craft cocktails.”

THE FOOD

To go along with the drinks, we were served a slew of Chirp’s signature dishes which included appetizers like Signature Misticanza Salad, the Carrot and Coconut soupPull Apart Cheese Knots and Mutton Seekh Malai Jhol. A chaat item from their chaat bar named Autumn, was also served which was crispy palak patta served on sweet curd foam and topped with different savories.

For the main course, Cheesy Paneer Lababdar Green Peas and Habanero Kulcha and the Murg Makhan Wala Gobhi Khurchan Kulcha followed, and desserts included Green Apple Jalebi, House Made Rabdi and Tender Coconut Mousse. Our favorites were the Mutton Seekh Malai Jhol, a classic mutton seekh with achari malai jhol served over clove smoked curd and Autumn.

MUSIC AND OTHER ACTIVITIES

Sipping on our Barbet, we jived to the upbeat contemporary music playing on the speakers. The genre of music that plays at Chirp regularly includes slow jazz, house, classic rock and techno. For the weekends, they plan to introduce hip-hop nights on Fridays and Saturdays, and Sunday Sundowners with techno artists like Nina Shah performing. Other fun-filled activities would include workshops like ‘Sip and Paint’, which involves customers sipping on their drink and painting whatever comes to mind on a canvas; and ‘Typing Socials’, an activity which would involve customers penning down messages, with the help of vintage typewriters provided by Chirp, for their loved ones.
