A high energy bar to get away from it all

On the lookout for a new watering hole to let your hair down and groove to the DJs beats, cocktail in hand? Well… Look no further than Luft Bar & Kitchen, a shiny new place to experiment with carefully curated food and exotic drinks. “It is a high energy bar where we would like people to come in, enjoy and get away from it all,” shares Chapay Anand, Manager at Luft.

The exterior does not do justice to what lies inside. Opened on August 18, the dim-lit 15,000 sq.ft. instagrammable area houses a deck, an upper deck, a mezzanine and a VIP area placed comfortably in front of the bar and a gigantic television set, best to collectively watch a game of cricket on. 

We took our seats in the VIP area under a dazzling ceiling covered in metal hanging. We cozy-ed ourselves on the ultra-comfortable faux leather seating as hip-hop numbers from renowned artists like Eminem, 50 Cent and Beyoncé blasted through the speakers. 

As we were taking it all in, we were first served signature cocktails curated by Mr. Anand himself – the Pineapple Picante, a tequila-based cocktail; Bramble, made with London dry gin, lime juice and blackberry liqueur; Bukhara Gibson, another gin-based drink and a foamy pink vodka concoction called Po*n on Stage. All four could not be different from the next, in texture and in taste. They possessed a unique charm, and it would be a grave sin to pick a favorite.

We were next served some food to go with the drinks. The Corn Crusted Hara Bhara Kebab served with creamy onion rings and especially the excellent Chinese-influenced Tangra Style Chilli Paneer, a spice-laden appetizer incorporating soft and spongy cottage cheese, complemented the drinks well. Also complementing the drinks were the finger-lickingly delicious Paneer Lababdar served with Naan and the Pesto Sauce Penne Pasta we had next. Dousing all the spiciness was the luscious dessert, Cream Cheese Tres Leches with Sago Pudding made of sweet sponge cake topped with cream cheese and served with sago pudding. If we were to pick a favorite, it would undoubtedly be the heavenly Tangra Style Chilli Paneer which we could not get enough of. Meat lovers, do not miss out on their Tangra Style Chilli Chicken and their assorted baskets of Dim Sum. 

The delectables are best enjoyed when Luft comes alive at night. With his console elevated on a platform above the bar, the DJ fires up the evenings with techno, house and deep house. The highchairs on the deck below are then quickly cleared for nocturnal party-animals to flock and dance the night away to the roaring sets.
