With a career spanning seven years, Sakshi Chaturvedi, a former corporate employee turned actor and founder of Buzz Kya Entertainment, has hosted a rich variety of stand-up artists from across the country in the city. Being someone who plays a prominent role in Hyderabad’s nightlife scene, we thought it only right to ask her to recommend things to check out and to do in the city by sharing some of her top hang-out spots.
Favorite haunts in the city
For the longest time it was Heart Cup Coffee, and it still is, because that’s where a lot of my shows take place, and I inevitably end up spending my evenings with my artists there. I do like Tabula Rasa also because of the artists they host.
The nightclub to dance the night away
Currently it is EXT, but I have had some fun times at Olive as well. I don’t need alcohol to dance, I just need good music.
Nightlife Fashion
Something comfortable and chic at the same time. I would opt for a fancy top, denim shorts and a pair of sneakers which can endure all the dancing I would do.
Favorite live musical act
Peekay a.k.a Pranati Khanna, Siddharth Bendi, Bhuwin — a one man band and the Arpit Shourey Project. These four compose and write their own music and have put Hyderabad artists on the national map.
Choice of Poison
I am a very calorie conscious person. So, it is gin and water or gin with a slice of orange and tonic water, whisky water and fresh lime soda salted. I get drunk on music, not alcohol.
Who do you party with?
With my artist buddies usually on Saturdays and Sundays when I am hosting them. Other than that, I have a very small circle of friends I go out with.
Afterparty corner
If I feel the night is still young, we go to Zega, Sheraton, Park Hyatt and Artistry.
Hyderabad’s nightlife stand-outs
Access to artists who come from other cities to perform, a well-behaved crowd, and where it is safe, especially for women, unlike Delhi.
