Ridhi Mehra’s eponymous label offers intricately woven and richly layered pieces. Peeling back these layers one would find silhouettes that are bold yet delicate, traditional yet contemporary and highly decorated yet subtle. Talking about what inspired her to establish the brand, Ridhi Mehra shares, “I decided to delve into the fashion world with my own label because of my passion for fashion and my knowledge in business.”
Located on the ground floor of The Hilltop @7, the store that launched in the city on the 27th of September can be best described as being serene and dripping in opulence. You will find its 1,600 sq.ft. area covered in a dramatically arresting blend of traditional and contemporary wear for women which is further accentuated by their vibrant hues.
As we entered the store, a courteous staff welcomed us and began to show us around. We first made our way to the section that houses a selection of flouncy drape sarees and hand-embroidered blouses, from their latest collection The Icons. Created from materials chiffon and organza predominantly, the easy-to-wear drape sarees come in 5-6 styles in light hues like ivory, champagne and fuchsia pink among more.
Next, we approached the Anarkalis section. Here, you’ll find a rich variety of pieces in hues yellow, champagne, pink and more, made from materials georgette, net, raw silk and chiffon. The ivory hand embroidered Anarkali with signature Ridhi Mehra embellishments was especially eye-catching to us. Just as impressive was the Indo-western line-up we checked out next which includes a wide selection of kurtas, sharara sets and lehengas with capes that incorporate shoulder pads to give one a bold look.
The eclectic Pret line-up placed carefully in a separate room showcases their latest collection Mayflower. You’ll find a lot of chanderi cotton pieces here in the form of co-ord sets, kurta sets, and cape sets in a variety of prints and colors. What grabbed our attention here was a minimalistic cape set best to wear on a vacay with friends and family.
Our store visit concluded with bridal wear. At first glance these pieces, that incorporate intricate work, looked like they are going to be heavy and tough to carry – not unlike usual bridal wear. But the collection of lehengas showcased here, in hues red, yellow, champagne and more, is comparatively lighter in weight and as a result comfortable. The showstopper for us was the stunning hand- embroidered ivory piece from The Icons collection placed elegantly over a mannequin made of materials net and organza. Named Dream, the stunning piece can be customized in different hues as per the request of the customers.
