As intimate as a coffee nook can get
If you find comfort in the thought of strolling into a café, wanting to connect with people (and pets) over specialty coffee, then Kôhé – the Koffee shop might just be the place for you.
Kôhé (urdu for ‘pinnacle’) opened last September by partners Vyshnavi Reddy, Shwetha Reddy and Chetan Reddy. The 700-square-feet coffee place is located in Jubilee Hills has interesting elements such as upcycled furniture to lounge, a guitar to jam with board games, soothing music that changes according to seasons.
The café thrives thanks to its founders’ passion for fostering camaraderie among customers, centered around a sustainability theme. This includes their aesthetically pleasing indoor and outdoor seating areas to the preparation of their signature beverages and other delectables.
Kôhé sources their coffee beans from the company Bean Rove of the Kalledevarapura estate in Karnataka which roasts their beans specially for the café. Vyshnavi shares, “The whole idea of moving towards specialty coffee is to work directly with planters/estate owners.”
We started our culinary journey with OrangEspresso, Kohe’s newest addition made of freshly squeezed orange juice with a shot of espresso; Dirty Matcha, made of a shot of espresso and milk; a regular Cappuccino, freshly brewed espresso with frothy milk and lovely latte art; and the heavenly Cacau Shot, a thick farm to table cacao from East Godavari with no additives and very little milk served in a small paper cup resembling a shot glass.
To go with all the coffee, we were served other eats including Strawberry Cacau Chia Pudding, which is soaked overnight in different variations of milk and served with nuts, granola, almond butter and fresh strawberries; Granola with Yogurt, which features homemade granola and Greek yogurt; and finally, the Almond Butter Toast, made with sourdough bread topped with homemade almond butter and fresh strawberries. Despite similar ingredients, each one of them was WOW! Vyshnavi and Shwetha are open for more collaborations and keen to expand to more neighborhoods. “We are hoping to open up in neighborhoods which need a coffee shop, starting from Banjara Hills to Kokapet,” they say.
